Non-free-flowing powders need controlled feed to the auger rather than more screw speed.

Cohesive powders can bridge above the auger, form rat holes, compact around the agitator or discharge in irregular slugs. Stable dosing starts with hopper geometry, agitation, working level and refill method before the auger recipe is adjusted.

Bridging

Observe whether a stable arch forms above the outlet or auger inlet.

Rat-holing

Check whether a narrow flow channel leaves stagnant product at the hopper wall.

Agitation

Use enough conditioning to feed the auger without overworking, heating or aerating the product.

Low-level behaviour

Compare dose and flow near the agreed refill point rather than running the hopper empty.

Record the feed condition with every weight result.

Sequential weights are difficult to interpret if hopper level, agitation or refill events are not marked. The approved recipe should include the product-feed method and working-level limits.
