Is an auger filler volumetric or gravimetric?
An auger filler is normally a volumetric dosing machine because the screw moves a measured volume of product. It can be combined with weighing, checkweighing or feedback controls when the filled pack needs weight-based evidence.
The distinction matters because volumetric repeatability depends on stable product presentation. If the powder changes bulk density or settles after dosing, the trial should record both screw setting and filled weight.
When is gravimetric powder filling better?
Gravimetric powder filling can be better when the buyer needs the filling system to measure weight directly rather than infer weight from volume. It may suit products with variable density or applications where acceptance is based on recorded weight.
It still needs product testing. Fine, dusty or cohesive powders may not discharge cleanly from every weighing route, so handling behaviour must be checked alongside the weighing method.
When is cup dosing not suitable for powder?
Cup dosing becomes risky when the powder does not fill or empty the cup consistently. Cohesive, aerated, dusty or bridging powders can give inconsistent volume, even when the cup size itself is fixed.
